Sasso's Story

In the 13th century lived a rich nobleman, Roberto de Besozzi. One night sailing home from distant lands laden with treasures and delicacies, his ship was attacked by a fierce thunder storm. Winds howled and angry waves flooded the vessel. Nearly capsized, Roberto began to pray. Miraculously, he was saved. Roberto remained on the Italian cliff where his ship crashed and became a monk known as Sasso. Local fishermen brought Sasso food which he prepared for them in the delicious ways he had learned in far away countries.

Welcome to Sasso’s world of culinary adventures where guests experience superior food and exceptional service in a unique and beautiful atmosphere. The international and classically trained chefs prepare the freshest fish and Seafood along with the finest meats available in ways to satisfy every appetite. Sasso’s is a Mediterranean style villa and features authentic Murano chandeliers and a world class collection of artwork.

Guests may choose from a variety of dining areas, including al fresco dining with a beautiful Italian marble fountain and park view setting. Sasso’s is located on the popular south end of the island less than one block from the beach. Serving dinner nightly, in season, from 5:00 p.m. until closing, with a casual bar menu available in the lounge or on the piazza all night.
